Frequently Asked Questions

Photography? Call that a proper job?

Yes. After all, it was that easy, you wouldn't need me.

Do you shoot on 'digital' or film?

Newer isn't always better, but digital technology offers a level of flexibility and speed which have enormous benefits for location work.

What about 'post-production' options such as retouching etc?

I try and do as much as possible 'in-camera' because there's no better way to end up with a great end product than to start with a great image.

That said of course, digital post-production can ensure you get exactly the image you really need. Every digital image will normally require basic colour correction, sharpening, etc – normally I'll leave this to the end user in their specific context, but I can undertake this for clients if required. Please ask for more details.

How do you supply the shots?

All the images from the project would normally be supplied as JPEGs on DVD, usually with a set of contact prints (and a 'thumbnail' gallery on the DVD) so you can identify images by reference number.

What about copyright?

Although technically the intellectual property remains mine, the shots are essentially yours to use as you like. So there's no fee if you decide images commisioned for, say, an annual report are used in brochures, online, or on an exhibition stand for instance.

I would however request notification if shots are supplied to a third-party for reproduction elsewhere.

I've just thought of another question.

Fine. Get in touch.
